We are so excited that you have decided to join the MGA family for the 2019-2020 season!  The purpose of this email is to help inform you of MGA’s skill evaluation process. Please take just a few minutes to read over today’s email to make sure you have the information needed regarding next week’s skill evaluations.  Friday, we will send out an email regarding the different teams, the vision for the novice, regional, and elite level teams, and when teams will be released. Monday, we will send out our final email regarding teams, skill levels required for each level, what to wear for clinic days, and what to wear for skill evaluations.

Clinic Date and Times

This year’s skill evaluation will be broken up into 2 separate days.  Day one is what we refer to as clinic day. The kids will hear from the staff about the expectations and goals we have set for the 2019-2020 season.  They will learn the MGA way to jump, the MGA way to start a tumbling pass and finish a tumbling pass, and they will learn a dance. To make sure the clinics run as smoothly as possible, athletes with level 1 and 2 tumbling (No tumbling, back walkover and back handsprings) come to the clinic on May 7th from 6:30-8:30 pm, while athletes with level 3-5 tumbling skills (Round off handspring tuck or higher) will come on May 9th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  The day that you attend the clinic has no bearing on which level team you will be placed on.  Please read Monday’s email regarding team placements.

Tryout Day and Times

During registration, your child will sign up for a 30 minute window on Saturday May 11th to come for tryouts.  Times will start as early as 9:00 am and will conclude by 2:00 pm on Saturday. Following warm ups, your child will show us their best standing tumbling pass, their best running tumbling pass, their dance routine, and if they are trying out for a flying position, they will be expected to show us a stunt that has performance elements incorporated into the stunt.  On Monday, May 6th, we will send out an email of the list of skills required for each level team.

Registration for Tryouts

Registration for tryouts will begin at 5:00 pm for both days.  Your child will need to make sure their paperwork is turned in, We will measure their standing reach, take a headshot, get them signed up for a tryout time, and answer any questions you might have.  If you would like to register, please stop by the gym on Monday from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm.

What do I do if I can’t make my clinic day?

For anyone who has a conflict with our skill evaluation days, there are 3 options to pick from.  Option 1:  Learn the dance from our Facebook page. (https://www.facebook.com/Mgacheerextreme/)

Option 2: Come to a make up clinic on Friday May 10th starting at 6:00 pm

Option 3:  Set up a private skill evaluation to be held after our team placement date.  Please understand, we place teams based off of who shows up for tryouts, this means if a team is full and you pick option 3 you will be placed on whichever team has openings.

What do I do if I can’t make Saturday for my official skill evaluation?

For anyone who has problems making Saturday’s skill evaluations, will have two options.

Option 1:  You can come on Friday, May 10th starting at 6:00 pm for your evaluation.  If you choose this option, please make sure you see the front desk to schedule your time.

Option 2:  You can schedule a private skill evaluation time after team placements.  Please understand, we place teams based off of who shows up for tryouts, this means if a team is full and you pick option 2, you will be placed on whichever team has openings.

I hope this has given you the information needed regarding MGA’s 2019-2020 skill evaluations. Make sure to keep an eye on your email for email number two titled MGA’s Different Teams and What they Mean.
